Credit Card Interest Rate Reduction

Northeast Security Bank would like to make you aware of a popular scam that goes after your personal financial information in order to defraud you. The FDIC has received reports of a telephone scam involving a company calling itself “CreditCard Services” that claims to be affiliated with the FDIC.

They will offer to lower your credit card interest rate, but requires personal or confidential information to verify that you qualify for their “program.” These are identity thieves trying to get information from you such as credit card numbers, social security numbers, bank accounts and PIN numbers.

The Federal Trade Commission encourages you to report this type of telemarketing fraud at www.FTC.gov, or by calling 1-877-FTC-HELP. For more information, go here: www.ftc.gov/phonefraud. Information regarding fraudulent activity involving the FDIC should also be submitted to the FDIC’s Cyber-Fraud and Financial Crimes Section via email to alert@fdic.gov.

Important Reminders
Never give out personal identification or financial information over the phone to anyone claiming to be affiliated with your bank. If the activity seems suspicious, hang up and follow the above steps for reporting. You can also call Northeast Security Bank to verify if it really was us or anyone affiliated with us that called you.
